What are my chances of getting accepted to Boston University?

I’ve had great communication with my admissions officer (who happens to be an assistant director), so I don’t know if that helps me some? BU has a really low yield rate and they consider the level of the applicant’s interest whereas BC doesn’t.

I do have a safety. @gearmom

I wish I could share my essay with you, but in short, I talk about my unique struggles and my strong desire to go to the East. I would like to major in history, so I alluded to “manifest destiny” and made renamed it “my reverse manifest destiny”.

@BigDreamerMe I would remain optimistic about acceptance. Probably, folks on here would have steered you to other eastern colleges in addition to the ones you choose. If it does not work out, look into interstate exchanges which is like study abroad but within the US and you could still have time in Boston.

Also if you are from a state far from Boston, that could work in your favor. They look for geographical diversity also.

I’m from south Texas, actually @gearmom‌

@BigDreamerMe Excellecnt! Are you also a first generation college student? That works in your favor. And if your parents are low income.that also works in your favor. So you could have four hooks. Hispanic, URM. From Texas, geographical diversity. First gen. Income level. I think your stats are good in the big picture.

@BigDreamerMe Don’t forget to check often on the online portal for BU to show interest. And remember, you are competing against the 11% of Hispanics that are admitted not the whites from private schools in Mass…

I recently sent an email to my admissions officer regarding my interest in the university despite my deferral… Hopefully that helps. @gearmom

@BigDreamerMe That is good, but I think they also check how many times you view your portal. Keep working it and cross your fingers.

Your URM status makes Northeastern, BU and BC reaches. Without the URM status they would be out of reach.

@TomSrOfBoston Do they have talent development at BU? He is right on the edge.

What is talent development?

So all in all, would I have a good chance of getting accepted?

Considering all these other stats

^anyone?

I think it depends on which Colleges you applied to at Northeastern and BU. Your Test Scores are the weakest part of your application. Your Rigor and GPA seem pretty good for BU and Northeastern. As for Boston College, it is a high reach. I was denied EA with a 31 ACT. I also applied to BU and Northeastern so if you could chance me back that would be great!

I think you have a great chance with that ACT score. Are you involved in extracurricular activities? Officer positions? And I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences. @Charrunner1997‌

Cool! We may be in the same class come fall!

@TomSrOfBoston Do you think you can give me your opinion on an idea of mine?

I was thinking… BC doesn’t consider the applicant’s interest while on the other hand, BU does. I began to look at the stats and it turns out that BC has a higher yield rate than BU.

So if an applicant shows enough interest in BU, does the applicant’s chance of getting accepted increase?
