What are my Chances of getting accepted to UPENN?

<p>Hi,
I'm a junior in high school and I am extremely captivated by the idea of ever going to The University of Pennsylvania. I have less than a year before I need to apply (early admissions) and I would really appreciate if anyone could tell me from where I'm standing now, how likely I am to get accepted.</p>

<p>Top 15% of my class.
GPA: 4.3 </p>

<p>SAT'S: 440 620 430 (But I am taking private lessons with an SAT tutor, scores should come up by the time I retake them in January.)</p>

<p>Will be taking SAT II's in June. </p>

<p>Will be taking ACT in February. </p>

<p>My transcript shows progression.
In my freshman year I took two honors with a pretty good GPA
In my sophomore year I took quite a few honors with all great grades
By Junior year I am taking 2 AP'S and 4 Honors (Straight A's)
Senior Year I will be taking 5 AP's and 2 Honors</p>

<p>***Was it not the founder of this school, Benjamin Franklin who said "He that rises late must trot all day"?</p>

<p>I am extremely involved in my community and city government.</p>

<p>Extracurriculars consist of the following;
National Honor Society
Spanish Honor Society
English Honor Society
Student Government
Junior Class President
Drama
Secretary of Drama
Vice President of Drama
Varsity Water polo (Captain)
Varsity Swim Team (Captain)
Newspaper Staff writer
I have led numerous leadership programs throughout community
I Organized an event for the developmentally disabled in community
and the list goes on and on.</p>

<p>UPENN is the only school for me.
Any input would be extremely appreciated. </p>

<p>Focus on bringing up your SAT scores and class rank (perhaps you can take some summer courses)</p>

<p>There are a few exceptions, but without a 2000+ your chances decrease greatly. Try to improve your test scores.</p>

<p>Thank you very much. Also, I will be studying abroad in Israel this coming summer. Does UPENN give much care to little things such as studying abroad and extra-curriculars?</p>

<p>U need a 2000+ SAT… preferably a 2200+ SAT or an equivalent ACT…</p>

<p>I was accepted with a 34 ACT, but without these test scores it is extremely difficult to be accepted.</p>

<p>Besides your test scores your ECs are pretty good</p>

<p>Raise your SAT score around 600 points if you want to be at least competitive. EC’s and GPA look good, but without a decent score your chance is extremely slim.</p>

<p>How different is the ACT? And would Penn look down upon me for taking the ACT? In terms of difficulty?</p>

<p>It’s better to submit ACT & SATII scores I would think. Especially if you are applying for a specialized school like SEAS or Wharton; even though they say ACT can be submitted in lieu of SATI&SATIIs.</p>

<p>basically, if you don’t get those SAT scores WAAYYYY up by next year, you’re not going to Penn. Otherwise solid application.</p>

<p>Now on a different note, whoever goes to Penn, what would you rate the school? Aesthetics, academics/professors, Campus Life, area in Philadelphia. Also is the campus similar the dreadful NYU campus in which it is scattered around the city, or is it more or less one solid campus?</p>
