What are my chances of getting accepted?

That’s the thing.

I’ve been trying to get an answer for that.

Whether it would matter if I took a 3rd year or not.

But I’m not getting anything.

If didn’t take a 3rd year of Math (which is Pre Cal), and took some other class my GPA would probably be even higher.

IDK if this helps:

https://admissions.arizona.edu/requirements/Competency_Requirements.aspx

I guess you could just get a 540+ on the math part of your SAT.

Ugh that math thing looks like it’s gonna be a problem for me.

Anyway if you have a lot of extra carricular activities does that raise the chances of me getting accepted?

I have around 150+ hrs. of community service along with 3 years of advanced orchestra and a bunch of other things.

Accepted:

2.87 GPA; 28 ACT
Lots of ECs and leadership positions.
Lots of math, science, couple of APs, challenging classes and HS
Hook: Own a business.
OOS

david7334, do you think having only 2 years of math will be a problem?

on the website it says Algebra1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 is required.

I’ve taken all of them but I took Algebra1 in middle school.

I’ve been trying to get answers from the school, but I’m not getting any :/

“I’ve taken all of them but I took Algebra1 in middle school.”

You should be fine then. They will not lie to you, if they said it on the website they mean it.

You ECs will be considered as well, it says so on the website. [The University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona](http://www.arizona.edu)

Yea, but I’ve been getting alotta mixed answers telling me what you took in your middle school doesn’t count in your application you send to them.

Some say the Algebra 1 I took in middle school won’t count as a part of my math credit.

And I’ve only taken 2 years of math in high school that’s why I’m concerned.

If you are a junior currently take Algebra I again your senior year. This course of action will ensure your admission and it may help your GPA because you already took it and Algebra II.

Also, if someone at the admission office tells you something get their name. If you have further questions you can just say X admissions office employee told me this when you are talking to whomever you would be talking to.

In your case, assertiveness could be the difference between attending a CSU or community college and the University of Arizona. It could be the difference between meeting new people in a fun college environment or going to the same local school as everyone you went to high school with.

How long does it take to hear?

U of A allows up to 2 deficiencies in 2 separate areas. For example, if you are missing one year of math and one year of science requirements, they will still consider you for admission, but not if you are missing 2 years in either area. As mentioned already, you can use an SAT score in lieu of the missing math class, also.

Though U of A looks at ECs, they really don’t take them into account very much when considering admission. Basically its numbers, that’s all. If you have a 2.5-2.9 gpa and write a decent essay, and if you’re from out of state, you have a very good chance of being admitted.

Elizabethh, I heard as an out of state student you can’t have any deficiencies.

I tried calling and emailing to confirm this, but I can’t get any answers.

Also, do you know any people that got into this school from California with really low gpas?

Just curious.

Well he’s not from California, but [this guy](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-arizona/913844-dont-worry-about-being-rejected-here.html) had a very low GPA was accepted and he’s OOS.

And about rivalries, the Official UA website even pokes fun at ASU on their [Wildcat quiz](http://studentaffairs.arizona.edu/wildcatsurvey/) on the first question.

It looks like UA still has room for more freshmen… [Space Availability Survey Results 2010](http://www.nacacnet.org/PublicationsResources/Research/SpaceAvailabiltySurvey/Pages/SpaceSurveyResults.aspx)
