I am wondering if I will get admitted to Yale School of Forestry for a Masters in Environmental Management - it is my top school and I am very curious!

GPA: 2.9 - with an upward trend
Major GPA: 3.3 (Estimated)
Major: Industrial Engineering
GRE: 570 verbal ; 730 Quantitative; AW: 4
Professional Experience: 4 yrs at a top tier management consulting firm

I am worried because I have all of the credentials, except for the overall GPA. I really hope it doesn't hurt me!

What do you guys think? Has anyone applied before with similar credentials?

Even though your GPA is low, your have lots of experience which will help a lot, especially if you can get flaming hot LOR I guess you have a shot.

Thanks! I agree it is difficult to say. Anyone else?

Contact some potential faculty see if you can get a research assistant-ship. It is hard for a Master but you can try. This way, the faculty can recommend you.

You mean if I don’t get in when I apply? The application deadline is dec 15.

Also, I read on one blog that Yale FES may not care as much about GPA as other programs, has anyone heard of any truth in this?

I’m at Yale (not FES, another department), but I can tell you they have a wide range of backgrounds in their recruits. Some are fresh out of college, some have worked for many years, and everyone in between can be found. I wouldn’t worry about your GPA if you’re strong in other areas. However, the program over-recruited last year, so they may be actually be cutting back the number of people they accept this year. Again, don’t let this discourage you if you have a strong app. The program itself is pretty fantastic, from what I heard.

Oh ok thanks! Anyone else have some input?
