What are my chances of getting in if someone from my school has already committed?

I am part of the HS class of 2017 and I go to a not-presitigious public school that sends a few kids to Ivys each year (almost exclusively Cornell). Someone from my class has already committed to Columbia for sports, so what are my chances of getting in, as I am not sure if Columbia would accept two people from the same unknown school. I do believe I am qualified, but disregarding qualifications, in general do admissions officers have like a limit for each school? For example, do they go like “we’ve already taken someone from this unknown school, so we can’t take another person from that school.”?

Well in regards to Cornell in my case, 1 student committed to Cornell ED but they still took alot from my school (me and 3 other people). There isn’t a limit persay (atleast one they’re aware of), admissions is based on quality of applicants and if there happen to be more than 1 kid in a school that admisions officers like, they’ll take them. There are countless instances where schools like MIT and Cornell take 5 or more kids from one school.

They look at each applicant on his/her own merits.

Don’t sweat it. If you don’t get in it will not be because of the one athlete from your same school - it would be because of the shear number of other extremely qualified applicants.

The year DS got into Columbia, he was one of three kids from his “non-prestigious public high school.”
