Personal Information:
White Female
High School Senior
Intended Major: Plant Science
Numbers:
Unweighted GPA: 3.98 (my school is an unweighted school so I don’t think I have a weighted GPA)
SAT: 1240 (600 Math & 640 English)
I just took the SAT again and I studied for the math section which I didn’t do before.
No APs since my school doesn’t offer them (that is why it is considered an unweighted school) but I have taken six dual enrollment classes at our community college while in high school:
Plant Propagation
Plant Nutrition
Introduction to Plant Science
Plant Pesticides and Fertilizers
Music Appreciation
American Sign Language 1
Extracurriculars:
Active FFA member of my club for 4 years (speaking competitions, community service, meetings, shown rabbits, chickens, and goats at our fair,…ect)
FFA officer for 2 years
lots of volunteer hours with my church and through FFA
Work: no work experience but I’ve been a teachers aid and a “farm assistant” just doing anything my teachers need.
I’ve never applied to a college before so I’m just kinda trying to figure out where I am in the ballpark of things. Thank you so much!
Oh and also my ACT score was 29.
UC GPA? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
DE courses are weighted by the UC’s so they will count for the extra honors points in the UC GPA calculation as long as they meet the a-g course criteria.
Ok if I did this correctly (lol) my grades are:
Current: 4.02
Anticipated if I get straight As this year: 4.08
My DE courses are approved I made sure before I decided to take them.
Thank you for responding so quickly
Senior grades are not considered for admission purposes only to maintain your provisional admission.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:
UCD: 52%
I think UC Davis is a Match school. Make sure you have at least one safety on your list. Cal Poly SLO or Pomona would be a good options.
First semester grades are counted right? That’s what everyone has told me. Thank you for your help, Cal Poly SLO is my second choice but it doesn’t focus as much on the “science” aspect of Plant science as much as Id like it to so we will see what happens.
UC’s do not ask for Mid-year grades unless they send you a supplemental review and then you can submit them, so most likely your first semester grades will not be considered when they make their decision. Some CSU’s will ask for a Mid-year transcripts after being accepted and enrolled, but again they are not considered when making an admission decision.
Ok I’m sorry apparently I’ve been given wrong information. If I don’t I put my freshman scores. (It says not to on the calculator which I’m fine with since it’s my only B!) I have a 4.06 which is fine with me. Thank you so much for the help! I’ve been given a lot of mixed information so I’m glad I did some research.
The UC GPA is 10-11th grades only. 9th grades are not calculated in the GPA but are reviewed to make sure you meet the a-g course requirements. 12th grades are used to make sure you maintain your GPA and to keep your provisional admission once accepted.
