Hey guys, I am new to this site and I was thinking of my chances for University of Miami, SDSU, SCU, and UCSB. Also, what is a good Business school with a nice beach weather I could attend in your opinions? As you can see, the colleges I listed are all good schools with an beach environment, but I just wanted some other opinions.

Whats your ethnicity? Are you hooked. Are any of your classes AP/PAP/IB/Honors? If not you have a very very slim chance at all those schools. Your sat is low as well. Your ECs are not spectacular and have no concentration.

Im Iranian, first born American. And yes I did take AP US history. Yes the SAT I took back in Sophomore year was not that good. I had no money to take it Junior year again but will take it first time Senior year.

Can I possibly ask what you ment by “No Concentration” towards my extra curriculars?

Focus the bulk of your energy on studying for your SAT. It seems low for these schools, which tend to prioritize a student’s test scores. Do your absolute best, as in getting mostly A’s, the first semester of your senior year to demonstrate that you are qualified academically because your GPA is on the lower side as well. Your ECs seem okay to me.

Make sure your application is stellar and hope for the best this upcoming year.

You have ECs, but no breadth. Did you win anything in FBLA? I AP isnt good enough for UCSB, but if you retake the SAT and get a 2000+ you’ll be fine (I wasn’t aware you took it during sophmore year).

I think what kiddo means is that your extracurricular activities don’t have a particular focus. If I were an admissions officer, I wouldn’t be able to look at your application and label you as a “Math kid”, “Science Whiz”, “Future Business executive in the making”, etc.

Some students tend to concentrate the majority of their activities based on one or two interests. Although, this really only makes an impression at the tippy top schools that get so many applicants that they need to distinguish them through ECs.

The schools you listed are more statistics-based, meaning while they consider an essay and recs, they care more about GPA and test scores.
