I’m planning to apply to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, and UCSB. This is my first semester of college and I’ve achieved sophmore status using 36 semester units that I’ve gained from APs so I’m doing a one year transfer. I’m applying as a Stats major and I’ve met the statistics requirement with AP stats, I’ll take the computer science course for the major during winter, and I’ll be done with Linear Algebra/ Diff Eqs. by the spring. This term I’m taking English 1A(regular-not honors- 4 semester units), Multivariable/ Vector Calculus (No honors offered for calculus- 5 units), Fitness for Living (kinesiology class needed to meet “Life Long Learning” requirement for my AA degree- 3 units), and then Track and Field (2.5 units in my college, but one unit for UCs). I’m planning to have a 4.0 GPA this semester and ace the comp sci class I take in the winter. I’m planning to take honors classes in the spring unless it doesn’t help admissions. I was also a state ranked track athlete last year and I plan to make the Community College state this year, but track is a spring sport and if anything goes wrong in terms of recruitment, it would be too late to apply to UCs so I’d rather apply academically right now and be safe instead of using my track and field marks. If anyone has any information on athletic recruiting for community college, that advice would be greatly appreciated as well, but for now I just want to see what my chances are with those 4 schools.
