What are my chances of getting in?

I’m a current college student planning on transferring upon completion of my AA from Miami dade college.

I sort of rushed into college and have been doing 6 classes at a time so that resulted in me pursuing majors I ended up not interested in and taking way too many courses I ended up not needing. Because of this I have a 2.47 gpa and this upcoming spring semester I’ll be receiving my degree in computer science. I believe I can bring it up to a 2.5. I just have too many courses under my belt for me to fix my gpa. I’m hoping for a fresh start at a university. The thing is I’ll need to take a extra semester to complete the math prerequisites needed to qualify. But as I’ve been taking 6 classes a semester since fall 2017, it’s a tad too hard to bring up my gpa at this point. Based on my research, UF has the best CS program and I’m very interested in attending.

I’ve since volunteered at a at-risk youth program, a disability fair, and a member of the cyber security club.

I know this school is a long shot for someone with my stats but is it at all feasible to apply here for computer science? Or should I just settle for any school that would take me.

I know it’s a messy gpa but please any insight. My gpa is a reflection of my mistakes but I’m intent on a quality education

Please any insight

I’m far from an expert, but I think UF is a long shot, honestly. What about UCF? Still a reach, but they do have a very well-respected CSS program. And be sure to ace the math prereqs. Get tutoring, talk to the prof, whatever it takes to pull an A.

Best of luck!

Do you suppose if I transfer to a school such as UCF, I would be able to transfer maybe during senior year to UF with the right gpa? I know that UCF is about second place as far as CS in Florida but I’ve been doing research and they don’t really have good lectures just a competitive programming club and UF also recently updated their curriculum for CS (don’t quote me on that)

Have you completed all of the critical tracking courses? See link below. I think your GPA in these classes is very important. success in the critical tracking courses could outweigh other shortfalls.

I’m not an expert so I would recommend calling the school and asking questions.
