your being a minority will definitley help you, especially because generally there are not many hispanics that are attending top colleges so these schools are desperate. But, you have a downward trend with your grades.Your grades in some classes went down each year, so that will go against you since the point is that you improve. Especially the C in english junior year. But, I think colleges will note that you took challenging honors and advanced classes, so that will take this into account, but still. Maybe explain in your essay? best of luck to you.

thanks (bump)

your senior year grades are good, so that should definitely help you.

As for the essay, why not write about your parents' cancer and how you coped with the situation? It obviously must have been a very intense experience for you, so you will be able to write a good essay about it as long as you don't focus too much on the negatives. Also the essay will go a long way towards explaining your sophomore and junior year grades.

The problem with your stats is that you have a downward trend from freshman-junior year. I'm not sure to the extent this will affect you getting in, but I think it will hurt quite a bit. Going from all As to Bs and a C doesn't look good, sorry. Your SATs are also below-average for these schools.

would u happen to know who your football team played this week or last week?

absegamy, why?

anyone else?

hey.............

sorry, i'm new and don't know how to do these chances things...

but my mother had cancer my sophomore year and my grades went down, as well. i also didn't think this affected my grades, but everyone else seemed to think so. my counselor mentioned it.

i guess we'll see if it helps? sorry i couldn't give you more advice!

The schools are going to be looking at reasons TO admit you.

The main question being will you succeed academically. They will think that you are smart enough, but based on 10th and 11th grades, they will wonder if you will work hard enough.

So I think it depends on how they will interpret these two years. I would guess that your essays and recommendations will matter more than usual.

Also, top 10% helps quite a bit - especially if your HS is one that they know and respect.

Your admission chances are much harder to figure than most.

so i hear. but thanks for the input

eh, what the heck. bump

i think you should just apply everywhere and become very religious.. its like 50/50.. same case for me haha nice senior grades though

become religious, lol?
