What are my chances of getting in?

Hi-I'm a senior in high school from illinois, and I am very interested in going to the University of Minnesota, however, I am very aware that it is a difficult school to get into. I'm wondering what my chances are to get in as an out of state student to the COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT with the following information that I will put on my application...

UW GPA: 2.7
W GPA: 3.125
ACT: 29
EXTRA CURRICULARS: Swimming, track and field, Peer Leadership, Volunteer tutoring of elementary kids twice/week, youth group, community service work trip every spring break
WORK EXPERIENCE: Lifeguard, swim coach, swim lessons teacher, babysitter

I can use any input from anyone...any feedback would be helpful! Thanks!

oh, I forgot a couple other random things that I think would be part of my application…

…class rank…not quite sure, but I know I’m for sure in the top half of my class, which is 1 thousand students…

…I will be taking either 1 or 2 AP classes next year…

…I go to a very highly ranked public school of 4 thousand students in the state of Illinois…

…I’m a white female…

…member of the National Spanish Honors Society…

…I think that’s just about it!

CEHD is one of the easier colleges at the U. Your gpa is pretty low but your ACT will help. I think you could probably get in (75% chance), but I wouldn’t be surprised if you got waitlisted first. Hope that helps.

Your GPA is VERY low. So I’d say 10% chance for CEHD as of now. Up that GPA and your class rank and you have a fair shot.

ok, thanks for the help!
I accidentally looked at a report card from my earlier high school years when i posted the post from yesterdat, but as of my most recent repport card, my unweighted GPA is 2.9, and my weighted is 3.325…does this make much of a difference as far as my chances of getting in go?
Thanks!

The U looks at class rank more closely than GPA, so that’s what you should really be focused on! I’m not sure what your class rank is, but if its only around 50% you might want to consider going somewhere else and then transferring later.
