<p>I've just come to this site, and to tell you the truth, after reading the specs of most posters on this site, getting in to the college of my choice seems harder than ever. Please post on what my chances are at getting in to the following schools:
1. University of Pennsylvania
2. Carnegie Mellon
3. Princeton University (older brother attends - dont know if that even matters)
4. University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (business) (not in state student)
5. Duke University</p>
<p>My Specs:
Rank: 2/647 (one of the most competitive public schools in the state)
GPA: 96.9 UW 103.6 W
SAT: 1520 (old) 2210 (new)
PSAT: 221
SAT II: 780 Math IIC , 780 US History. Will be taking lit and german in the fall)
AP: no scores yet since I don't feel justified paying $8
EC's:
3 (will be 4) on school tennis team
Captain of Debate Team
President NHS
Student Council Representative
Class Treasurer
3 year member (since founding) of tri-county drug&alcohol advisory board (many volunteer hours doing various anti-drug activities)
Math Club: President (12), Sec (11), treas(10), treas(9) - our club is 75 member strong
Computer Club: founder & president (go to local nursing homes and help seniors learn computers & how they work)
Many clubs & awards in: Model UN, Youth in Government, Let's Get Real business modeling, Chess Club, FBLA, etc....
Volunteering: Many hours in different events: hospital volunteer, computer volunteer, tutor in many subjects.
I have self-tought myself german (exempted out of first two years)</p>
<p>I am currently attending the Pennsylvania Governor's School for IT and was accepted to the school for international studies as well. </p>
<p>Please, I look forward to hearing your honest opinions on my chances. Obviously, my essays will be critical, and so will recommendations. But, do my base specs give me a good chance at these schools?</p>
