What are my chances of getting into a good engineering college?

Purdue is my top university right now, but I just don't know if I have any hope in getting accepted. Are there any other recognized universities that might accept me into their engineering program?

ACT: 22
No SAT yet
GPA: 3.0
Classes: Project Lead The Way, Engineering Physics Honors, Precalculus Discrete, AP English

Are you instate for Purdue? If not, which state are you in?

I don’t think your stats are high enough to get accepted into Purdue’s eng’g.

Your ACT score suggests (to me) that you might have a hard time succeeding in the Math and Engineering classes.

What was your math score on your ACT?

How much will your family pay? Your family’s budget for college will likely largely determine where you should apply and where you’ll be able afford to attend.

I currently live in Illinois. I am sorry for not being clear, I am going to be taking those classes during my senior year of high school which will be this upcoming year.

These are the scores for my ACT:

English 25
Reading 22
Science 20
Math 20

I know that my science and math scores are extremely low , but throughout my high school years I have only received A’s and B’s in my science and math classes. The ones that lowered my GPA the most were other classes. For now, money is not an issue since I plan on applying to some scholarships that my help with the payments.

Purdue is OOS for you and rather expensive…over $40k per year.

For now, money is not an issue since I plan on applying to some scholarships that my help with the payments.

Those scholarships are mostly only for freshman year, and likely for rather small amounts. They’re not likely going to help you pay for 4 years of college.

You need to come up with a sensible list based on will work for your situation based on what family will pay and your stats.

Have you looked at the Illinois publics?

With Math score at 20, it would be difficult to get into any engineering school. Even if you can, it will be very tough for you. ACT 22 is just a bit above national average. You would need a lot higher ACT score to get into good engineering school like UIUC, Purdue, etc.

Your ACT score in math/science suggests that your school’s math and science classes were not very rigorous. Your stats are very low for engineering programs (especially the math score). Do you have any safeties?

Honestly, I have given up on any remaining hope that I may get into one of the top engineering schools. The class PLTW is partnered with Purdue and U of I which I was then told that since that class widely recognized, my chances do go up by a small amount. I’ve been looking at other universities but I’m not sure which one would accept me. Also, I’m a horrible test taker. I’ve taken other practice tests which have given me a composite score of 25. I don’t really know what to do at this point on whether or not I should change my career choice or not even though it’s my passion.
