Btw, sorry if this is in the wrong place, it’s my first time. Hey, so I’m a sophomore, and I took the ap comp sci test this year as a self-study. I studied well, but being the horrible test taker I am, I choked in the middle of the test. I’ll hopefully get a 4, or maybe even a 3. Do you think I still have a chance at getting into a competitve comp enginnering school (berkeley, MIT, etc.)? Sorry if this is a really dumb question, but this is my first AP test, and I’m really uninformed. Thanks in advance:)
@tvbmusic123 AP scores often don’t factor much into admissions (they are used more for credit and/or placement), and MIT doesn’t give credit for APCS. Relax.
AP scores do matter in the sense that it shows grade inflation.
So lets say that you get an A in an AP course but end up getting a 1, it raises question as to whether you cheated or had a really easy teacher.
You don’t have to submit them
And many colleges say they make no difference in admissions decisions
Does it look weird if you tak the class, and don’t submit your score?
Thanks to everyone who replied. Actually makes me feel a lot better. I want to take it again next year, while I take the real class in school. Once again, does it look bad if I retake an AP test?
@tvbmusic123 Just don’t report the lower score then. If you take it a different year than you took the class, then the admission officers will assume: 1). You had too much in your belt at that point during the year. 2). Your parents may not have been able to afford the test at that time. 3). You had other reasons for postponing the test.
