What are my chances of getting into A&M?

That’s a plus. My school has roughly 30 NMSF per year, and in the last 2 years we have had 4 perfect scorers on the SAT

You probably went to one of these:

[Texas’ top high schools for 2011 National Merit Semifinalists | GetListy!](HugeDomains.com)

I am sure Admissions officers in TX know them.

So it turns out, it was not that you were slacking off, it was the extraordinary number of smart kids in your class that kept you from getting a higher class rank, by working harder. After all, if one percent of students are suppose to be NMSF, then a class of 500 should have only 5 not 30!

If you are willing to apply out of state, you could apply to some other good schools like U of Michigan, U of Chicago, NYU (Engineering), Sweet Briar, Stevens Institute of Tech., NJIT, Colorado State, SUNY Buffalo etc that have late admission deadlines.

Just make sure you get good grades in the current semester. Good luck.

Good luck, biochemtx!
My friend told me that admissions sent his admission decision today. I am still on step 3 on AIS. My friend is an academic admit; is this why he’s already getting his decision?

yeah auto admits find out right away… I know this is kinda off topic but if your close to academic admittance do they tell your a decision sooner?

Yup, auto admits find out pretty soon. I got to know a few days ago.

Be prepared to wait until anywhere from January to May if you are a review admit. My daughter did not find out until late April, but her boyfriend was admitted as review admit in late January. She made the mistake of applying late, so I strongly encourage you to apply early since it is rolling admissions.

oh okay. well I applied at the beginning of September and have been on step 3 for a week now. I hope mine doesn’t take 6 months haha but you never know.

All of my stuff got in on Sep. 13th and my optional letter of recommendation got in on Thursday. I re take the SAT on Saturday and those scores will automatically get sent in since I ordered a free score report. I’ll just hope and pray I’ll hear from them soon!

Alright, i spoke to my counselor and she told me that i will be able to get in first semester grades into A&M by january 15th but not an updated rank. I have very high grades as of right now (everything is 97+ with at least 2 tests in all of my classes) and if i keep up all of my As i will have a 4.66 gpa for the semester. Will this drastically alter my chances? (a 4.66 gpa is roughly the gpa for the top 2% or top 1% of the class)
