Hey everyone,
I am a Canadian student currently in grade 11. I was hoping I could get some help and see what my chances are of getting into Barnard ED. It is my top choice school at the moment, and I am very nervous not to get in.
Stats:
Gpa: (Canada doesn’t do gpa, we do average) 85% for all grades including grade 11 semester 1
SAT: since it is optional this year, I’m not sure if I will take it. What do you guys think?
AP classes: N/A
IB: I am in the program, have been since grade 9. I have a really bad math SL grade (level 4) that is official since we fast-tracked the course. Other then that, I am expecting level 6’s and level 7’s for all my other classes.
Extra-Curriculars:
- Started my own non-profit organization in grade 1 1 called Laws for Paws (check it out on ig @lawsforpaws2020) that is aimed at helping animals. I have held a few fundraisers and am hoping to hold more next year.
- I play varsity football (the only girl on my team) and have been playing since grade 10. I also won an award, scout team offense my first year playing. I think that I am going to write my common app essay on this and my experience.
- I also played junior varsity football for my city and we won Ontario provincial football league championships that year. (again, the only girl)
- I wrote a full length fiction novel and am planning on self-publishing.
- I played rugby since grade 10.
- I held a program called Student Vote (I was the president) in grade 11. It is a mock election within your school and most ontario high schools and elementary participate. I talked to MP's and had to campaign for all parties.
- I have a few volunteer positions that i can include in here.
Jobs:
- I have had a job at McDonalds since grade 10. (not sure if I should mention this)
Awards:
- Honor roll (9, 10, and probably grade 11 and 12)
Recommendations:
- I have three teachers that I think will write me really good recs.
Let me know what you guys think!
(Also, I am an immigrant from Israel, and speak four languages (hebrew, russian, french and english)
