What are my chances of getting into Carnegie Mellon?

I have a 3.7 GPA (weighted) and plenty of extracurriculars. I play football, and lettered and was selected as a first team all star this season. In addition, I am on the debate team, and am pretty successful at that. I started the chess club at my school and I am the vice president of it, and I am also in the Academic Challenge club.

In my sophomore year, my honors English class entered into a national essay contest for the Ayn Rand institute. Out of 15,000 entries, my essay placed 3rd.

This summer I will be attending Keystone Boys State, which is a summer program with a ton of prestige, where you and your fellow "citizens" run a mock government for a week.

My SAT scores are:

Critical Reading: 800
Mathematics: 510
Writing: 740

I am a junior in high school right now. As it stands, what do you guys think my chances are of getting into Carnegie Mellon? My main concern is my GPA, its only 3.7, and weighted, at that. But I've heard most colleges only look at your weighted GPA, so I'm not sure.

Also, I should add that my hours of community service are negligible right now, but I’m starting to do more. And my intended major is English

Well for CMU you need Subject SAT tests, so make sure you take those! Also, I would work on getting your Math score up, just because Carnegie Mellon places emphasis on Math. But I think you are on a good track! Keep working on gpa and write solid essays!

Thanks! So even if my other categories are high, and I’m not gonna do anything with math in college (other than what is required) I should still improve my score?

Oh what do you plan on going into?
I think you should try to get it up just to make yourself look more all-around impressive! But if you are looking to go H&SS you still will probably have to break 600.
