What are my chances of getting into Carnegie Mellon?

<p>Hello! I'd like to know what are my chances of getting into Carnegie Mellon? I want to apply to a college that is well known for their Computer Science program and I think that Carnegie Mellon is a great choice.
- Currently in the 11th grade-

- IB Math SL
- IB Psychology SL
- IB Spanish SL
- IB TOK
- IB HOA HL
- IB English HL
- IB Biology HL
GPA: 4.8 Weighted
SAT SCORE: 1940
2. EC's
- National History Honor Society - Secretary ( 1 year)
- National Honor Society ( 2 years)
- Math Honor Society (1 year)
- Spanish Honor Society- Event organizer ( 1 year)
- Key club (1 year)
- Breast Cancer Awareness Club (2 years)
- Volunteering Hours from one organization - 550 hours
- Rec- Pac Camp Counselor (2 summers) - around 260 hours
- Varsity Lacrosse ( 2 years and JV 1 year)</p>

<p>I would also appreciate if you all could give me some colleges that would be good for my intended major (Computer Science)!</p>

<p>Your chances do not look to good. Your SAT is no that high and your ECs are average.</p>

<p>Not really. If you cannot change those just make sure to write terrific essays.</p>

<p>CMU’s School of Computer Science is consistently one of the highest rated CS schools and thus is one of the hardest schools to get into. Your SAT is a few hundred points off being competitive and your ECs are ordinary. I’m not sure what to say about your GPA because almost every college (except for the UCs and a few others) only looks at unweighted GPA, which you didn’t list. I don’t know what other colleges to recommend to you because you didn’t list any criteria that you’re looking for, however, you can make a post in the “College Search & Selection” forum ( <a href=“College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/&lt;/a&gt; ) detailing what you are looking for and you will get responses. <p>“changing your EC’s?” LOL. You’re kidding, right? If you “change your EC’s” colleges will see right through it. You’ll have only 12th grade involvement. It’s shallow and should not be done. In all honesty, you probably won’t get into cmu scs. I don’t mean to be harsh, but it is the truth. They routinely reject perfectly qualified applicants.</p>
