I just recently applied and my GPA is a 3.7 and my SATs score is 1200. I only take one AP class because it’s what my school offers and I am involved in the upward bound program (a community based organization), in the law enforcement explorers, i run cross country and track, I am part and vice president of a JSA debate team, and I am part of the student leadership team. I am the only person in my school who started taking trig freshman year, then pre-calc sophomore year, calculus junior year and ap calc senior year. I just want to know my chances according to someone who has already gotten heop in cornell.
You have an okay shot, I mean it’s very hard to tell. It’s really based on Cornell’s assessment of your HS, your community and your essay. I know kids who got in through HEOP with 1700-1800 (on old SAT) and kids with 2100+. I can’t really tell you if you have a good shot, as that depends on many factors including your family’s income, but I’d say you aren’t totally out of contention, if the GPA was a bit higher (idk if that’s weighted or UW) that would help.
My GPA is UW for now. Both of my parent’s income combined adds up to $36,270 a year, so I’m not sure if that’s ok, I mean I have a sister in her freshman year of high school. I also got a college consultant to edit my essay and I go to the Beacon School in nyc. I know I’m just throwing a bunch of information lol, but Cornell is really my top choice and I just don’t want to blow it. I want to show them I’m interested but don’t know how. By the way, thank you so much for taking your time to consider my question, really appreciate it.
