My math teacher and physics teacher(who is also school principal and my accountability partner: I go to his house twice a week for dinner)

Special Circumstances:
*The first generation to go to college in my family
*I was planning to go to Korean university which don't look at school GPA. So my GPA was low in 10th grade.

I realized certain people only look at certain boards and I wanted to get the most number of opinions possible. I apologize if that disturbed you a bit. !

Waitlist with mediocre essays. The only reason I forsee you being waitlisted is that you are "too good" and cornell will assume that you are just using them for a just right/safety school. Or maybe they'll take you anyway. Aim higher though, while cornell might be a great school, there are betters.

"The only reason I forsee you being waitlisted is that you are "too good" and cornell will assume that you are just using them for a just right/safety school."

This will not happen. Cornell is an Ivy and one of the most prestigious schools in the country. They will not reject someone for "using them as a safety" (anyone would be stupid to consider Cornell a "safety" in the first place).

Iheartcolleges does have a point, since he really should aim higher, but Cornell shouldn't be a safety school, and the essays will be very important in this case, but it looks like the applicant is international, not USA.

Doesn't Korea rig GPAs? I heard something along those lines of them just wanting to get their students into American colleges. To be honest, even the relationship you have with your principal/teacher is a bit fishy.

Yeah, i wouldn't include the principle part, here in America those kinds of relationships are considered weird and only acceptable in California !

i actually phrased my response incorrectly... Cornell, in my opinion is an amazing school.. my favorite so far. I just said you would be waitlisted because I know people who took their cornell apps and essays as a joke with your kind of stats because they were aiming for harvard and what not so if you write an essay that shows that you actually know the school, you have a great shot. You should also look at some schools for sports.. cause u sound real good.

that ISEF will get u anywhere.....and Cornell has some amazing opportunities for kids like u and I(interested in doing research) such as Presidential scholars award. Trust me, if u get that, it would be better than going to Yale. By the way, u ll prolly get into yale too because of that ISEF award.
Also, it is not unusual for a person like hcjiyun to choose cornell over other "top" ivies. I have seen many people with these stats apply early there...
Another thing that i would like to point out is that mentioning ur relationship with ur principal cannot hurt u. In fact, it can only help the quality of ur recommendation letters.
good luck
