What are my chances of getting into Cornell?

please be honest, yet respectful

I go to Hunter College High School in NYC (a magnet school)

I am currently takin 11th grade honors Math, 11th grade english, U.S. history, Physics, AP Chemistry

Next year, I plan to take: Ap Biology, AP English Language and Composition, AP Psychology, AP Calculus AB and AP Studio Art. I'm also planning to do a biology internship for a teacher

My GPA: Here is my main problem. I was REALLY REALLY bad in 9th grade and so it affected my gpa tremendously. In 9th grade, my year's average was a C. However, i worked hard and raisied it to an A-/A 10th grade and am currently averaging A-/A junior year. I ask at the infomation session at brown and they said they look at progress in grades as well. Because of 9th grade, my GPA is around a B+

ranking: no ranking in our school

Test Scores:
SAT II Biology-E (700)
SAT II Chemistry (680 - retaking it, practice tests show 740)

**runinng for publicity secretary of our SCHOOL's government this year

Awards:

2x Scholastic Art Award Gold Keys

What's unique about me?
I am really into art

teacer recs:
found two really great teachers who'd be happy to write me one

counselor recs:
my counselor really really likes me

essay: i have a very very interesting background and life and with the help of a good editor and counselor, could write a pretty good essay

interview: im extremley social and confident

"Extremley?"

Your test scores and GPA are below the curve, and being "really into art" doesn't really differentiate you from the rest of the applicant pool.

Work on your SAT scores, and make sure you write something pretty damn compelling.

extremley bad u mean?

No, I mean you spelled "extremely" wrong.

yeah...about half the student body at hunter will be applying to cornell. i'd say, lowish chance..your SAT scores seem kinda low for hunter too. definitely raise them and it'll also depend on to what major/school within cornell you'll be applying. you said you have an interest in art and yet you'll be doing an internship with biology..seems kinda strange although if you can find a way to include it on your apps in a unique way..then be my guest. those awards definitely help too. but again, it really depends on the major. applying to a statutory college at cornell may help too (i believe about 40% of freshman applicants must come from nys). good luck.

I happen to just have met someone from Hunter!! She was really cool!
If you really like Cornell, do ED to human ecology or some other NY state related schools. good luck!

lol you're only in 11th grade (even though you won't be in a month)...but still, chill out.

Here was my situation last year. In high school, I was a complete slacker, ended up with a 3.54 WEIGHTED. However, I only took the SATs once (December of Senior year) and got a 2250. And I got in, as well as many other great schools.

So if you're a smart slacker, you can still get in! I'd take a smart slacker over an average hard-worker any day.

lol..wow

makes me somewhat unconfident

does it make you feel better than, that most of my AP scores didn't qualify for credit?

Oh and btw, don't confuse me with my other posts. My brother and I both use this account.

well, youre off to a good start. no one should be confident when it comes to elite college admissions..thats just crazy.

=/ thanks..i guess illhave to work my butt off to reall get amazing 2nd semester grades
