What are my chances of getting into CSUMB?

I applied to CSU Monterey Bay for their Spring 2009 semester back in September, and they received my complete high school transcripts and SAT scores in October. I still haven't heard from them. Is that a bad sign? I know that because of the influx of students, they aren't as lenient with accepting students as they were before, especially because of the CSU budget cuts, so I'm a bit worried.

I have a 2.90 cumulative grade point average, a 1460 (570 on Critical Reading, 520 on the Writing portion, and 370 on the math section) on the SAT, I took an AP English class in 11th grade and passed with a C, and half an AP Art class my senior year which I passed with a C half semester and had a 3.43 for my senior year. Also, I did grew up overseas and attended a DODDS school my entire schooling "career" but I'm not sure if that counts as something that would make me stand out. My alma mater is in Seoul, South Korea. Also, I don't have state residency because I grew up overseas due to my father being in the Air Force, so I never lived in the United States. I am, however, and American citizen. But state residency is important, so I'd also like to know if not having one will count against me.

I really, truly appreciate your answers, and I look froward to reading them!

I pretty sure you should be fine. Maybe try to bring your SAT up a little bit? If not then its ok. CSUMB is not too tough to get into.

Thank you so much Azhir. :) Yeah, my SAT is a bit low, gah!

I've already graduated from high school, so that is my final SAT score, unfortunately. I thought it was good, until I heard everyone else got in the 15-1600's, now I wish I had taken it again.

I made application in mid-May 2008. The CSUMB/CSU-Mentor webpage for payment did not work (they jury rigged a PayPal web payment page). I went to campus to pay the reg fee, being told they accepted credit cards, and could not pay as they only accepted cash or checks. Again, I went in mid-July 2008, paid the reg fees (they took credit cards at this date and held my fee check for 3+ weeks as they had no connection between the reg payment and the application file). I walked that through and talked to an admissions counselor who indicated she didn't even know programs accepted applications through May 2008 (the cut off was March 2008). The application was held up because the reg fee (which had been sent and received) was not applied to account to release the application. I sent graduate transcripts which were confirmed as sent and received. I heard NOTHING from mid-July to late November 2008, with a response to an email to admissions saying 'what is your question?' when it was clear I made inquiry since I hadn't heard from Admissions. While this isn't uncommon in colleges/universities, it is a bit troubling as this campus may limit admissions after 30 November and isn't handling the applications which have been timely submitted well before that date. There appears (from looking at the HR webpages) to be turnover in the admissions (including an 'interim' assistant director). It is this staff level which does the day to day processing and supervision tasks. Suggest you get on the phone to see 'what is up?'

rwillisca - Thank you SO much for your response. Finally someone who can relate to the frustration I'm feeling. I'm going to call CSUMB tonight (it'll be 8:00 in the morning their time) and ask for some concrete answers, because the spring semester is less than two months away, and I can't afford to sit around waiting for them to respond. At first I was concerned that maybe I hadn't gotten in, but I know that I'm qualified so I'm going to go ahead and call them tonight. By the way, the fee you were talking about, what was it for exactly? The $55 dollar application fee?

rwillisca - By the way, ultimately, did CSUMB accept you? Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it. :)

I called CSUMB last night, and they informed me that my application for the Spring 2009 semester is still being evaluated, because they are behind on their 2009 applications and that I should hear from them in two weeks. Someone told me that there was a turnover in admissions at CSUMB, which my explain the frustrating delay.
