In general, I'm a bit of a hippie. I'm a vegetarian, peace-loving Quaker and I like doing outdoorsy things like hiking and rock-climbing. I'm thinking about applying ED but I'm torn between Dartmouth and Cornell.

Grades are quite mediocre for the Ivies and SATs are relatively low (for the ivies). Most EC’s only as an upperclassmen? ED’ing will definitely help your cause but they are both mid-reaches for you.

I think they both will be an uphill battle with your scores as is. I would try to raise them to have a fair chance. Also look at places like Middlebury, Hamilton, and some of the other New england LACs where I think you would fit in well.

ECs are seriously lacking and seem rushed.

Your GPA is a little low, but a good senior first quarter or first semester will make it good enough.

Definitely need to raise those SAT scores. You want at least 750 in CR and Math.

Honestly, I would not waste the ED. Your competition coming from NJ is extreme. There is little chance with sores well below median, not being top of class and not having a stand out EC.

You may have a chance at some schools at Cornell (not CAS), but I would frankly use the ED at a school that’s a realistic reach in the range that Slipper gives.
