I am in 7th grade and am looking to apple to about 6 private high schools, but my main interests are Delbarton or the Lawrenceville School.
I have gotten all A’s or A pluses all through 6th and 7th grade and have made highest honors.
I play the tenor saxophone.
I play lacrosse, which I am okay at, but I am a really good swimmer that has gone to the Junior Olympics.
If you have any suggestions on how to help me get in, they would be greatly appreciated.
Try following for Delbarton:
- Attend Summer camp with all the sports you play and you are good at. It is very important Delbarton sees your sport ability. You can prove your academics with your grades.
- Make sure you do well in their IQ Test during admission process. It is one of the important entry point before even you can be looked at for rest of your credential. Make sure your score is more than 130 out of 150, though 120 and above is also acceptable if you have other solid activities.
- Though Personal interview is just the formality it is very important you are well prepared to highlight all of your achievement outside of your academics. This is your opportunity to make sure Delbarton knows what you are good at it and what you can offer to the school.
I am not too familiar with Lawrenceville, may be someone else can help you with Lawrenceville.
Good Luck and let us know how did you do.
I applied to Delby when I was in mid school. Got waitlisted but I attribute that to the fact that I got 2 B’s and a B plus the first quarter of my eighth grade year. I picked the worst time to slack off in middle school haha. If you have all A’s, have decent EC’s, and have a decent interview, you should get in. Lawrenceville is a bit more competitive I think but I really don’t know about it.
Oh isn’t there the standardized test for Delby aswell? I did pretty darn well on that. That’s important. When do you take that?
