SAT Score: 1460 (Math=530) (Reading=480) (Writing=450)
Unweighted GPA: 3.8
Class Rank: 15/122 (number ranked male in my class)
Rigor of Classes: I take a majority of Honor's classes, this semester alone I have Pre-Calculus, Chemistry, and English IV.

I just sent my new SAT scores off to ECU because my first scores in November were 1340. I was shooting for above 1500 on my December scores but I think I'll be fine for ECU.

My most important question I need answered is, does it matter the major you selected? I choose Systems Engineering which is what I want to do. But all my friends told me I should have just choose something like Agricultural or Physical Education. Will it really effect whether or not I get accepted just by major I have selected.

I have applied to NC State as well but I highly doubt I get accepted because they are so much more competitive and especially in engineering because they have one of the finest engineering schools in the country. But should I apply to anywhere else maybe UNC Charlotte or Appalachian State?

ECU is a match, and it’s always better to declare a major that you’re really interested in rather than debate over what admissions officers will like. your ecs and sat 2 scores should emphasize your passions as well. good luck.

You’ll get in but if I were you I’d apply to more than one college. A friend of mine got rejected from unlv with a 3.7 and 27 act so always always have a backup plan.

Agreed. UNC Charlotte’s acceptance rate is about 70% and are about like ECU when it comes to admissions. But this year I think ECU is trying to lower their acceptance rate because of how fast their student population is growing. Considering it’s the 2nd largest public university in North Carolina.

So long as you’re still breathing by the time they get to your application you will get in. ECU isn’t known for denying many applicants especially if they have a somewhat notable test score.
