<p>I really really reaallly want to get into Emory but I am not sure if they are going to accept me or not...
I have a unweighted GPA of 3.96. I am in the top 100 in my class.. not sure about the exact class rank since I recently moved.
I will have eight AP classes when I graduate (took two AP exams so far made a 3 on one, a 5 on the other). I have made all A's (high) throughout all my high school years and have been on honor roll every semester since freshman year. I do community service regularly about once every week or so and have more than 120 hours recorded. I have gotten awards freshman year for outstanding academic performance.
My clubs and activities include beta club, academic honor societies (such as mu alpha theta) and community service groups. I have not held any leadership positions (my old school only did leadership senior year and since I moved well I didn't get a chance) in any but I have been a very active member in all.
I am very concerned about my SAT scores. I took it once spring of my junior year and made a not so hot 1600 overall (including math, reading and writing) I am planning on taking it again in January along with the ACT and hopefully will do better. </p>
<p>Looking at these stats how are my chances of getting into Emory looking on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.</p>
<p>Your biggest weakness is the SATs. You need to get that around a 2100 and 2200 to be a likely candidate. A 1950 to 2000 will put you as a decent candidate.
I think what you need is a GREAT essay. Your ECs are good, but no leadership positions could hurt a bit.</p>
<p>I have a question though. How does GPA = 3.96 if you have had all A’s in high school?? My high school might do it differently…</p>
<p>anyways, work on your SATs and maybe try ACTs. Do some subject tests too! </p>
<p>Based on your current stats, I have to say from 1-10, you are around a 5. What hurts most is the SATs and no leadership positions. Everything else is good.</p>
<p>My GPA was a solid 4.0 at my old school but when I transferred schools I don’t know why they made it into a 3.96. I also was very concerned about my leadership and I would’ve gotten the positions I applied for (since I was out of all club members the most active and preferred by the club sponsor) but like I said my old school had a senior only leadership policy and when I moved right before senior year started I kinda missed my window of oppurtunity :(</p>
<p>Suppose you can improve your SAT to a 2000+ or ACT to are 30+ and write good essays, I would say that Emory is a high match. Write good essays - that will set you apart.</p>
