Hey everyone! I’m a current senior planning on applying RD for the Walsh School of Foreign Service. My ACT scores are pretty good, but I was kind of anxious about my GPA so I’d love to get some other perspectives on my chances!
Background
— High School: Top public college prep school in my state
— State: IL
— Race: Asian
— Gender: Female
— Economic: Low income
— Family: Both parents are immigrants
— Status: First generation
Scores
— GPA: 3.5 uw, 4.7 weighted
— Rank: n/a
— AP: US History (4), English Language (5), Psychology (4), French (4), currently taking European History, English Literature, Human Geography, Statistics. My school doesn’t allow freshmen to take APs and the only APs available for sophomores are US History and Physics.
— ACT: 34 (in one sitting) E: 36, M: 35, R: 36 S: 28 (yikes) Writing: 10. Superscore is 35 (only changes being 32 in Science with a 12 in writing.)
— SAT: 1480 (second time) E: 740 M: 740. The first time I took the SAT, I got a 1350, so would that growth look good on my app considering I have to send all of my scores to GU?
— SAT II: Literature 760, Math I 740, French 680

Additional Information
— I speak English, Korean, and French (my colloquial French is excellent but my reading comprehension lacks, sadly). I have been teaching myself German and Hungarian since 8th grade.
— There were extenuating circumstances that led to my grades dropping severely (sexual assault)
— I plan on writing one of my essays about the reunification of North and South Korea because I have family members in the North (obviously I’ve never met them but that’s why this issue is important to me).
Sorry this post was a bit of a doozy to get through— if you’ve read this far, I’d really appreciate any feedback! You can be as honest as you want, I promise my feelings won’t be hurt Thank you!
