Hey guys, I’ll be applying to GT in the fall - it’s my top choice right now. I’m caucasian, Jewish, and interested in pursuing computer science. Throughout high school I’ve been on the honors/AP track, taking at least 3-4 a year. I come from a highly ranked public school in the north suburbs of Chicago - here are my stats.
UW GPA ~ 3.4
W Gpa ~ 3.95
ACT ~ 31 (Highest Math: 31, Highest English: 35)
AP’s [including what I will be taking my senior year]:
AP Microeconomics
AP Macroeconomics
AP Computer Science A
AP English Language & Composition
AP English Literature & Composition
AP Calculus AB
AP Biology
AP Spanish Language & Composition
AP Psychology
Activities:
Model UN [9-12]
Mock Trial [9-10]
DECA [11-12]
Spanish Honors Society [11-12]
Honors Society [11-12]
Improv Club [9]
Women in STEM Club [10-12]
Computing Club [10-12]
Peer Helping [10-12]
Field Hockey [9-10]
My junior year I duel enrolled in CS331: Data Structures & Algorithms at IIT. Senior year I will also be senior teaching the AP Computer Science class as well as taking on a CS independent study with the head of the math department.
This summer I have an internship at Bank of America on a programming team working with trade capture processing and in the past I have attended numerous hackathons, technology conferences, and technology camps. I’m really nervous about not getting into GT because of my GPA/ACT. Does anybody have any idea what my chances are/tips for my application? If so I would appreciate it a TON. Also, I plan on applying early action, that’s what I am doing for all the schools I will be applying to.
Thanks!
- Stephanie.
