What are my chances of being accepted into James Madison University? I have a 3.95 GPA and only a 22 ACT score. Math is deeeefinitely not my strong suit so it drags my ACT score down significantly (I got a 28 in english and 26 in reading). I have several dual-enrollment courses at a NVCC, no APs. I want to pursue theatre and/or art, if that makes a difference.
I think you have a decent chance. Your GPA will surely help, but as you note your ACT is what is holding you back at this point. BUT, it is just below the mid 50% range (23-28) so you have a shot.
I actually just retook the Act and got a 23, so I’m finally within the range. Still, math is completely dragging my score back since I only got a 16 on math and 30’s on the others
JMU is test optional starting this year, so you could choose not to send them if you think they will hurt more than help.
Great GPA. If JMU is test optional, you should not send them.
I would, but I’m homeschooled and it’s greatly frowned upon to not send scores if you’re homeschooled.
Since you are homeschooled, is there anyway you can take a math class at a community college in the spring? You’;; need at least one math class to graduate from college.
@Bumblebeebot If you plan to major in Theatre or Art you also will need to schedule an audition or portfolio review. Your ACT is just below 50%, so not unheard of for admission.
