I have a 3.5-ish GPA.
I took the SAT once. Math: 740 CR: 530 Writing: 670 Total: 1940
I have not yet taken a second time but is planning to do so. (and I really think I can improve!!)
My ACT score is a 29 with writing.
I have more than 200 volunteer hours.
I took AP Bio and AP Physics and is now taking AP Calculus AB, AP Chem and AP Psychology.
I’m on the track team for three years.
I joined art club and csi club during freshman year.
I am also doing a 10 week internship involving the environment.
I play the piano since the 6th grade.
I really want to get into Macaulay and plan on applying to Hunter, Baruch, Brooklyn and College of Staten Island. What are my chances? P.S. I know that my stats are not that great but I’m working on writing those killer essays!
@notreadyyet
Macaulay only considers your CR+M on the SAT, so you would have a 1270. The November SAT is your last shot before the deadline.
Your standardized test scores are below average for Macaulay. Your GPA is also low for MHC, although your AP coursework is commendable.
Volunteer work, ECAs and internships are all important to MHC, and yours look okay, although they lack leadership.
Overall…
MHC @ Baruch, Hunter and Brooklyn are reaches.
MHC @ CSI would be a better fit – I heard that their average MHC SAT is 1300, so you’d be more in the range there.
I forgot to mention. I volunteered at a prep place (100 hours), at this organization that helps younger kids (160+ hours) and this after-school internship where you help the environment (20 hours).
@EIC2400 Thank you so much for your reply!! It means a lot
