What are my chances of getting into MIT, Stanford, Caltech, Berkeley

Hi
I am in standard 12, in the Indian School al ghubra, and indian school in Muscat, Oman(thats in the middle east) affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education , India.i got 800/800 each in sat 2 maths 2c, chemistry and physics, and a 2250 in the New SAT.
I hold the first rank in my class of 90, and although my school doesnt have a gpa system, it must be nearly maximum, considering i have been getting 100/100 each in maths, physics, chem, and computer science for the past 5 semesters.

I also gained the first position in the whole middle east in the Public examination of grade 10, conducted by the cbse all over the world, with 100/100 in maths and science.

Extra Curricular
I have been appointed the Head Boy of my school, and have the task and responsibility of leading the entire student body
I am student head of the student disciplinary committee, which is self-explanatory.
I am an avid photographer and have won numerous awards both in and out of the school.
Ranked in the top 5, in Phy and chem olympiads conducted by the gulf board.
Learnt the piano for 3 years< western classical>
Part of school, badminton and soccer teams....

Research papers on Heisenberg Uncertainty principle and created various circuits.

Applying as an international student, what are the chances of my getting into MIT, Caltech , stanford, or rice? If not these , then which colleges should I apply to?
thanks

prashant

hello? any advice......if not these colleges, what colleges should I be looking at....keeping in mind that I am an International indian student, residing in the middle east

Keep in mind that most users live in the United States, and won't be awake for several hours. Don't be impatient. I think you have fairly good chances at each of the colleges you listed.

you look great. i wish i had some of your ec's and awards. im applying to all of those schools, but im a us citizen(living in the uae though)
did you take any british tests (igcse's or a-levels)?

No, no british tests, as my system is the indian one....but I am pretty sure it is well recognized due to the sheer no. of people writing the annual exams< nearly 400000>.....so , what do you guys make of it........I have written a couple of programmes<graphics driven=""> in C++...do you think i should send the source codes, and any other research material along with the applications, or do the admissions guys get ticked off by that sort of stuff?........thanks for opinions!!</graphics>

I don't think you should send anything other than what the college ask for. They generally will not review such things. But you are very likely to be admitted in all those schools.

keep the replies flowing in......thanks...

great stats! AP or IB?

neither...its the cbse indian board....i gather you must have heard of it from somewhere

I believe Cornell has an excellent Engineering program. You should check it out (it looks like engineering is your forte). Good luck

thanks for the info

cornell has a decent engg programme, but the colleges i mentioned are ranked better by usnews for engg programs<phd offering="" colleges="" that="" is=""></phd>

cornell has an exceptional engg programme, but the colleges i mentioned are ranked better by usnews for engg programs<phd offering="" colleges="" that="" is="">,,,,also,,,,i think<although i="" am="" not="" sure=""> the need based financial aid packages for intl, students are better in mit, stanford, rice, caltech.....</although></phd>

how much aid do you need?
i think only mit is need-blind for internationals

my parents are willing to fund me for 25k a year, if i can get into one of the best.....

MIT, Caltech, stanford - good chance
rice - in

You'll find that even MIT, Stanford, and Caltech think the US News is a horrible guide to colleges. I suggest (and so do those schools) that you do your own research, and come to your own conclusions.

Wesam: MIT is need blind for internationals, but has a quota of 5% of all international applicants as a result of such program.

prashantmalani:

UCB: Match (out of state)

when schools beg you to go, can you tell them that you are bringing a friend ("ME") with you to caltch, stanford and watever?
I'll be your friend :)
