Future Career:

Hopefully a biomedical engineer.

So, what do you guys think? Do I have a shot at MIT. Thanks for your comments in advance :)

Or will i have a chance at any of the major Ivy League schools?

Any estimates? I just want to know if I am being realistic.

So far, you’re on track. Practice and set up for your SAT exams well, and with a few more ECs, you should be fine.

Cheers~

EDIT: For MIT, you may want to consider some high level math competitions such as USAMO, etc.

Thankyou for your response, do you have any EC suggestions?

Like me, you wish to pursue a biomedical engineering degree. I would try to get some research in at a local college or professor’s lab. I would also encourage you to try for some high level math competitions or science fair (Intel ISEF) as that is what MIT tries to pick out.

Cheers~

I did that for one summer at Moffitt Cancer Center and got to work with the nurses and even look at the biomedical engineering work there. This summer, I was planning to get an internship at Ratheon. Do you think that will help? Thanks for the heads-up about the math competitions and stuff :). I was planning to do my IB Extended Essay in either biology or physics and submit a portion of it as my college thesis. Do you know any schools that I would be a good match for ex. UPenn?
Thanks so much!

The experiences you listed would definitely help. With the ECs and grades, you’d have a better chance for MIT. I do not know much of the IB program and what it entails, so I cannot help you much on that. Some other good schools I recommend: Duke, Rice, Northwestern, and Stanford. Those have some good biomedical engineering programs.

Cheers~

Bump…any other opinions out there?

Bump… still looking for advice from all the experienced college scouts.
