I’m currently a junior in HS, and I’m not really confident in my extracurriculars and my grades are above average. Here’s some of my stats:
GPA: 3.9 unweighted
Class rank: 51/790
I’m debating on whether or not I should take SAT because many universities have made it optional for class of 21.
AP Courses:
Freshman: AP Human Geography
Sophomore: AP World History
Junior: AP US history, AP physics 1, AP Psych
Senior (what I’m planning to take): AP Us gov, Ap comparative, AP micro, AP calc bc, AP environmental
Extracurriculars:
-Model UN (4 years)-2 years as -Historian, 1 as secretary
-NHS-2 years
-Part time job as a piano teacher (4 yrs)
-Teaching English online to refugees (1 yr)
-Chorus officer (2 yrs)
-I also started a instagram with a couple of friends earlier this year to educate people on issues in Vietnam. We haven’t made any big accomplishments, but we’re thinking of doing a virtual summit for Viet Americans about advocating.
-Piano for 11 yrs
My grades went down first semester of junior year because I honestly didn’t realize how hard Ap physics would be for me (now I know I suck at science), and I wasn’t really happy with some life choices. Also, I took all honors classes every year. I haven’t won any awards, and I don’t know if that really matters. Also, a lot of people told me that my extracurriculars aren’t impressive enough, so I’m worried.
Btw, I’m planning on majoring in International Affairs. I heard from someone that it’s less competitive to get into Northeastern for this major, but I’m not sure if that’s true. Northeastern will probably be difficult for me to get into, but I really hope it is possible for me to get into. What are my chances of getting in?
