what do you think my chances of getting into NYU or Fordham are?

What about Boston Univ. or Northeastern?

Maybe a one-in-three chance at Northeastern, BU or Fordham; virtually no shot at NYU, sorry - that would be a major reach. Your SAT scores are right at about the 25th percentile for NEU or Fordham and below that mark for BU, though BU may be your best shot since it has the highest acceptance rate of the three schools (almost 60%).

Thanks.

Do you have any recommendations/ideas for me based on the statistics I have provided.

I am looking to go to schools in Los Angeles, New York City, or Boston.

Mike - You will probably need a substantial hook, as your SAT’s are at the 25th percentile (or below) for all four of these schools. Being from California will be a help. Good luck.

I am a terrible test taker. I took SAT prep classes, I just freeze when I see the SATs.

I would have taken the ACTs, but Science gives me slight troubles, especially on tests.

I’m hoping I get into at least one of the following: NYU, Fordham, Boston U, or Northeastern.

NYU and Fordham are my top choices, followed by NEU and BU

Loyola Marymount for L.A.
Maybe Iona, Hofstra, Manhattan College or SUNY-Stony Brook for NYC (all are reasonably close)
Right in Boston: Suffolk, UMass-Boston or Emmanuel… if you are willing to look in the suburbs try Stonehill, Endicott (or Bentley if interested in business)

I am applying to LMU already, and it is my top choice following NYU, Fordham, NEU, and BU. I visited it during Thanksgiving break and it has a beautiful campus. I have also heard very good things about its academics.

I am also applying to Suffolk, however, It is close to the bottom of my list because I have not heard outstanding things academically about it, and it is more of a commuter school. Thus, it might be hard to really get to know a lot of people.

I was considering Stony Brook and other SUNY’s and CUNY’s. However, my parents, and myself included want housing guaranteed, at least for the first 2 years.

I will look into UMass-Boston, Iona, and Manhattan College.

Thanks for the recommendations.
