What are my chances of getting into NYU?

I am going to be a senior in high school next year and I am fretting about a few of the colleges on my list, especially NYU because it is my dream school! So I would really like to get an idea of my chances of getting in so I know if I shouldn’t get my hopes up.

My stats are:
GPA: 3.4 unweighted ( I know it is a lot lower than their average)
SAT’s: 2130/2400
Course load: 1 AP sophomore year and 4 AP’s junior year
AP Art History (3)
AP Psychology (for sure got a 5)
AP Lang and Comp ( for sure got a 5)
AP U.S History (Most likely a 4)
AP Chemistry ( Don’t even think I passed…)
Rank: 45/509 (Top 10% barely)
EC’s: Due to personal issues ( A very sick sibling), I have not have much time for any extracurriculars over the past couple of years, which I know can hurt my application badly, but I do have some community service ( around 50 hours or so) and I volunteer at my local library and help out little kids learning to read when I can. I also took a college course last summer and am currently taking one now. Also in a program called Girard Prep.
Awards: I have only won one award a ( Presidents scholar or something) from the Girard Prep foundation. Because I have never had the time to participate in anything, I have never stood out.

I should do alright for my essays because I am a pretty good writer and I could get really good recommendations from both my psych teacher and my chem.

A little more about me: I am a hispanic, native american, and irish female. Although both of my parents went to college, I would be the first to actually graduate. I live in SoCal and I have other colleges to fall back on just in case ( USD and UCR), but it would be a dream come true to go to NYU.

Thank you in advance for responding!

Try NYU Liberal Studies program. My understanding is that they take lower stats. It’s kind of a soft entry program. Start there and move into the regular program as they raise skill levels.

You are aware that NYU has a reputation for lousy financial aid, right? You may want a back-up plan that’s definitely affordable. Boston U also has a lower-stats entry program, called School of General Studies. Emory has the Oxford campus but I heard from an adcom that the stats for that program are getting more and more competitive. I think there’s a university in Kentucky that has a similar program. Google for that info. Best of luck.

Dustyfeathers I didn’t know of this program. Thank you for the advice! I’ll be sure to look into these other colleges.
