So I was just wondering what my chances for getting into NYU really are. Based on their common data set and my stats I think it seems like a match but last year they had around 75,000 applicants and their acceptance rate dropped to 19% (they can only admit so many). It’s my dream school but I’m scared I won’t be able to get in because of the insanely high number of applicants that apply there every year.
My stats are: SAT: 1430 super scored (720 math and 710 reading), GPA: 3.79/4.00 (unweighted) and 4.7/6.00 (weighted)
In terms of classes I have taken 11 APs (including the classes I’m taking this year), and the rest of them were mostly honors with the exception of a few that my school didn’t offer as honors. For the APs I took AP world history freshman year, AP European history sophomore year, AP Calculus AB, AP English Language and Composition and AP American history junior year. I am currently taking 6 AP classes this year (AP psychology, AP environmental science, AP U.S. history and government, AP Literature and Composition, AP Calculus BC, and AP macroeconomics). I am ranked 11/55.
In terms of extracurriculars I am definitely not the most involved person in the world. However, the fact that my school does not currently offer any clubs at all may kind of account for that. During freshman year I tried competing in some math and science competitions but realized that I wasn’t good at them and stopped. During my junior year I joined my school’s environmental club (the only club my school currently has) and I competed in an environmental science competition.
The biggest part of my extracurriculars would be volunteering at a summer camp over the summer of my freshman year, and an oncology unit over the summer of my junior year… I also put that I spend a big part of my free time practicing and perfecting my skills in my native language (which isn’t English). I have also earned a C2 level for that language (the highest possible level one can earn in a foreign language).

What are you applying for?
In terms of stats, you are right in the middle of the latest freshman (class of 2022] stats (SAT 1350-1530, typical uw GPA 3.7]. If you’re applying for Stern it’ll be harder. Much will probably depend on essays/letters.
I’m not applying for stern. I’m applying for the college of arts and sciences… X_X
