What are my chances of getting into NYU?

I'm currently a high school senior. I'm trying to keep all A's this year, and I'm pretty sure I can. If I succeed, my GPA will probably increase to a 3.2
I got pretty good grades freshman year, but my sophomore year was my downfall with a bunch of C's because of some financial and personal problems. My grades started getting better through my junior year and now I'm trying to get all A's.

I'm shooting for an SAT score of at least 2250, I have been working hard with a lot of different guides. I'm pretty sure I can reach that goal.

I have been involved with (and/or am going to be this year) Student Ambassadors, Student Advisory Board, Drama Club, Habitat for Humanity, FCCLA, and Y-Club. I have been doing some volunteer work too.

So I want to know, what are my chances of getting into NYU?
or any other good universities up in that area?
I really want to get into NYU (or a good university). Any suggestions or tips? I would appreciate any feedback =)

I'm going into pre-med for my major, and thinking of going into surgery.

Your GPA will hurt you, however, if you do explain (or have your guidance counselor explain) what caused your downfall sophomore year, then they might understand. Definitely give an explanation though, especially since you did well the other years.

I think if you get a high SAT score then you have a good chance.

Other schools to consider:
BU-similar urban atmosphere, Boston is an amazing city, and BU is a pretty good school overall.
Fordham-in NYC. Pretty good school as well.
Drexel-in Philly. I think you’d have a good chance here.
Northeastern-also in Boston. Good chance for you.

this is all what if. and with ur current gpa its a no.

Thank you, sak09 =)

What do you mean by this is all what if, collegebound41?

your words: If I succeed, my GPA will probably increase to a 3.2. I’m shooting for an SAT score

what he’s saying is that you haven’t actually gotten these scores and stats yet, so its all in theory.

as for pre-med in NYC, there’s also Mt. Sinai i think (in addition to columbia, to be quite honest that’ll take some doing)
SUNY at Stony Brook is around the area.

as for the stats - My school sends a lot of people to NYU, and there are some kids with stats around there. but since we’re in city and well known it might be different, not sure.

I see what you mean but I’m only saying what I KNOW I can achieve. I just wanted to see my chances if I got those stats and scores. best case scenario check, I guess.

okay thanks for those suggestions =)

If you don’t mind me asking, do you go to a private school there?

gr8amna, I think you have an okay shot at NYU with that goal SAT score. Just work on your gpa, I guess. : )

I’m in a similar situation:

I am in love with NYU CAS. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me. Do I have a good shot at NYU CAS?

My gpa is a 94 on a 100 point scale. I have a lot of EC’s:

I want to major in religious studies/ history.

My first SAT was a failure: 1800, but I took the most recent SAT and my goal is a 2100 at the very least and I think I might have done much better on that one.

I am applying Early Decision. I think my essays are pretty good at describing my passion for history and religion.

Any advice or thoughts?

Thanks!

your gpa seems way 2 low
