What are my chances of getting into NYU?

<p>I'm a junior and I have always dreamed of going to NYU. I don't know which school I should apply to but I was thinking of making up a major at Gallatin that would be close to Fashion Merchandising Management. If it matters, I'm African American. Do you think I have any chance? What do you think is the easiest school to get into.</p>

<p>I have a GPA of 89.2, Weighted 91.9. My school goes by Numeric Grade Point Average so I don't know what my GPA is on a 4.0 scale.
Extracurriculars:
-Yearbook (junior editor), Travel Club (ambassador), Photo Club, FBLA, National Art Honor Society, National Honor Society, STEP Club (science club)
- I was selected to traveled to Paris, Northern France, and London for an educational tour experience in the summer.
- i will be traveling to Madrid, Barcelona, and Toledo in the Spring and a will be a leader on the trip.
- selected to participate in a Literary Workshop at the Walt Whitman birthplace.
- Won 1st place in a State Art Contest
- My artwork has been displayed in the School's Art Show freshman, sophomore, and junior year</p>

<p>Outside of School:
-Dance class from 5 yrs old to now
- Saxophone lessons
-Girl scouts from 2nd grade to 9th
Volunteer work: I volunteered for my church for a summer. I have a couple of hours of community service at my library.</p>

<p>AP and Honors Classes I have taken:
Accelerated Earth Science (8th grade), Algebra honors (8th), AP Biology (9th), Geometry Honors (9th), English Honors (9th), AP World History (9th and 10th), AP Chemistry (10th), English Honors (10th ), Trigonometry Honors (10th), AP Language and Compostion (11th), AP US History(11th), Spanish Honors (11th), Pre-Calculus( not honors but I am in a senior class)</p>

<p>I plan on taking in 12th grade: AP Psychology, AP Statistics, AP Literature and Compostion, and AP Spanish.
PLEASE give me some feedback!!!</p>

<p>I'm taking the SATs in January and March. I am studying hard and shooting for 2100.</p>

<p>Biggest question–can you afford NYU? Over $50K/yr and the high cost of living in NYC with limited aid to all but the top? Heavy on loans and fashion is not high paying for most. </p>

<p>If yes, with reasonable SAT/ACT scores, it looks possible.</p>

<p>Ok, well I can give you the profile for my friend (White male) who was waitlisted and then accepted this year.</p>

<p>He had a 94.75 gpa (on the point scale, we didn’t really do 4.0 either with about 7 aps total) and an ACT of 31. He also did volunteering in a hospital, volunteered for charity, was drum major for a year, was an officer in a club, played an instrument, and did dance.
So I think that looking at all of your stats and your great ECs, and if you got those test scores, you have a good shot.</p>
