So i applied in late november- early october for early action to University Park. My sat score is 1100 (which i know is low) but i have a 3.98 GPA and took all honors classes and some APs and 4 years of spanish. On my application i applied to DUS and put the entrance semester as the summer. I have a lot of extracurricular activities and i’m in NHS. So hopefully i get in! Be honest with your opinions too, anything will help me out.
Well if you wanted one of the stats to be lower, you want it to be your SAT for Penn State. Penn State decisions are 2/3 GPA and 1/3 test scores and other factors. Your SAT is low for Penn State. Is your 3.98 weighted or unweighted?
If you have a high rigor and a high UW GPA, they can overlook a poor SAT score.
@jlhpsu It is unweighted… and took some hard classes throughout the years.
If your 3.98 is unweighted then I think you should be fine considering GPA is 2/3 of the decision. The lower SAT may push you to summer session though…
@jlhpsu how do you know it is 2/3 gpa 1/3rd SAT, where can i find this
@hunchojack Penn State’s admissions page always said decisions were based on 2/3 GPA and 1/3 test scores and other factors. I just looked though and now it just says that the academic record is the most important.
“The most important piece of our review is your academic record, which represents your individual four years of academic development. Penn State’s holistic assessment of application materials includes the academic courses, grades and levels of those courses and standardized test scores, plus additional factors that may include an audition, a portfolio review, the geographic and cultural background of the student, the personal statement, and the activities list”
