What are my chances of getting into Rice University?

I am really wanting to get into Rice University and currently I am a sophomore, but have a chance to graduate next year. I'm thinking about sticking around the extra year if it could help with colleges.

I have a 3.85 GPA right now, my estimated GPA as of next year will be a 4.0 weighted.
I am in three community service clubs, Agape (at-large officer 1 year and president 2 years), DARE (Vice President two years and President one year), and FCCLA (3 year member). I am my schools HOBY ambassador as well. On top of that I am an actress in Drama Club and have been in all six productions through high school. I am also in Band (7 year Clarinet player and 4 year Section Leader), Jazz Band ( 3 years Saxophone player and 2 year 2nd's Section Leader), Marching Band (Clarinet and Saxophone Player for 3 years), and Orchestra (8 year member). I am involved in my church majorly and attend many events as our churches ambassador. I also am on the Mock Trial team and have played a attorney and witness for the last two years. I have had a rigorous course load of Honors, AP, and dual-enrollment, which is why my GPA isn't as high as some. I believe I could really make a great addition to their student body and just would like to know my chances.

*In addition, I am out of state, I live in Ohio.
*Also I have an ACT score of a 28, but plan on retaking it to get it up to a 30.
*I am also one of the two representatives for my school government. I have been treasurer for one year and president for two.

Even at 30 it’s a pretty high reach… best aim for 32+

OSU should be considered on top.

get that act to 31+

Catria is right in that your ACT is too low and that a 32+ score will give you a higher chance. Take note that at schools of such caliber, there is still a significant enough chance to get rejected even if you get straight A’s and perfect standardized test scores. Another thing you HAVE to understand is that you MUST understand yourself (what you love, care, hate, etc) and go for extracurriculars that you genuinely love and not just for the records because that will really help you in your essay, which is arguably just as important as your academics. I recently just got admitted from Rice ED, and my scores aren’t amazing. My score average is around 93%, SAT at 2170, 800 math 2, 800 chinese, 780 chem, 720 bio, AP Bio 5, AP Chem 3. As you can see im kinda below avg in terms of the grade distribution of prospective Owls, but my essay, which I confidently can say that is good, is probably the determining factor between that accepted or denied or even that accepted or deferred. ESSAY IS VERY IMPORTANT, GO PERSONAL AND DEEP ON IT.
