<p>I am a very strong writer. My essays are very fluid and convey the real drive I have to make something of myself in the field of mechanical engineering. (I chose the political topic for my common app essay so I related my drive to how I want to fix this issue that I hold so near and dear).</p>

<p>I would really appreciated it if someone could give me an honest answer so I can feel a bit more at ease one way or the other.</p>

<p>Don’t be nervous. Your GPA is very good (is that unweighted?), SAT perhaps a bit weak for engineering (did you retake in Oct?). My son has already applied for the mechanical eng. program at Rowan and his stats are similar to yours: SAT 1950, GPA 4.6 w, 3.8 uw, top 7% of class, all honors classes, clubs, volunteer work and work experience. We’re waiting too and will keep you posted, but in general I’d say you have a very good chance, especially with an excellent and relevant essay. Good luck!</p>

<p>^^^ Update: Son was accepted today with a $4400 scholarship. Application sent on Oct. 13th…fast response! Stay positive!</p>

<p>haah congratulations. i sent my app out on sept 30th but my sats may have only gotten there last week (i’ll find out tomorrow because they only check newly received scores on every friday). i did take the sat again this last go around but i do not feel i did well at all.</p>
