what are my chances of getting into RUTGERS NEW BRUNSWICK!

<p>I just got rejected from Penn State and UPitts</p>

<p>so I am pretty disappointed and desperate.</p>

<p>However, my first choice is RU new brunswick.</p>

<p>I applied to Rutgers new brunswick School of Arts and Science as regular decision applicant in Nov.</p>

<p>GPA unweighted 3.32. Weighted 3.84</p>

<p>Highest SAT 1620 ( Math 620, Reading 490, Writing, 510) </p>

<p>just got accepted into National Honor Society (senior yr)</p>

<p>Chem, Circle of Friends( bowling with special needs kids every friday) , Asian Club members ( secretary sophomore yr in asian club)</p>

<p>Volunteer at Marlton Virtual Hospital. </p>

<p>3 yrs of Work experience ( party hostess & waitress at a local family center and restaurant)</p>

<p>Eithnicity: Asian (Chinese)</p>

<p>PS: I am a permanent Resident in US, and in state. I also applied to the EOF program at RU ( if being an EOF student helps at all?)</p>

<p>I have only had one or two honor classes througout H.S because i just moved to U.S 4,5 yrs ago, my guidance thought i was "incapable" of taking hard classes therefore I have alot of L3 classes and I took a college course at community college in the summer </p>

<p>However, I am taking Advanced Bio and Chem and Calculus as a senior this yr. but i dont think they help.</p>

<p>I am no expert but, you should be fine. I am an URM with stats a bit lower than what you have, but with my rigorous classes and excellent extra cirrics I was accepted. Rutgers is very big on diversity, so that may help you.</p>

<p>They are asking for students with GPA 3.5 and SAT 1800+ sooo I am below what they want. </p>

<p>I think if you talked about your diversity in your essay and explained why you were unable to take honors/AP classes, you should fare a decent chance.</p>

<p>DON’T say you’re struggling with classes…that just makes them think that you’re incapable of handling college courses. Anyways, you should be able to get in, as long as you didn’t apply to the pharmacy school. Rutgers is a pretty good school (ranked around 50th in US) but the standards aren’t that high.</p>

<p>Your SAT scores are low, especially the Reading score, so I don’t think your odds are great. Make sure you apply to some less selective schools also - Rowan, Montclair St, Richard Stockton, Rutgers-Newark or Rutgers-Camden, etc.</p>
