I think SDSU, UCR and UCSC will be tough admits based on your GPA. UC’s tend to be very GPA focused although your SAT is within range but your UC GPA is at or below the 25th percentile.

If you attend a highly competitive HS, that will be taken into consideration.

Below is some UC admit data for UCR and UCSC. Your EC’s and personal insight essays can also help your chances.

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCSC: 33%
UCR: 49%
UCM: 82%

2018 UC capped weighted GPA averages:
UCSC: 3.96
UCR: 3.81
UCM: 3.71

2018 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:

UCSC: 1210-1450
UCR: 1130-1380
UCM: 1020-1280

SDSU admits by eligibility index and major. All majors including Undeclared/Undecided are impacted. The average EI for 2018 was 4408 and around a 4300+ can be competitive. Your EI stands at 4066 which makes SDSU a Reach school.

You have some good options so far so best of luck.

Thank you for the amazing response! How would I know if I have a highly competitive high school? Class rank? My class rank is currently 236/669

Students know if their HS is highly competitive, think Troy HS in Fullerton for example. Rank is not considered in CSU and UC admission decisions. Also with only AP classes for all 4 years, your HS course rigor is lacking. Highly competitive HS’s will usually offer many AP/IB courses to their students.
