My goal is a 35 on the ACT composite.
My goal is 2300 on the SAT.
Overall I believe I am more intelligent than I appear. My GPA is low due to me being lazy my first 2 years, and I was lazy because I was bored because it was too easy. I was wondering if I still have a chance to get into a school like Stanford even though I wasted my first 2 years. And what can I do to improve?
Stanford rejects hundreds of 4.0/2400 applicants every year, so your chances are slim to none. Your ECs really aren’t unique, and I don’t see something that you appear to be really passionate about…
I do have a few questions, though. why are you taking the SAT and the ACT? why not focus on one? Also it’s concerning that you don’t know that the SAT switched back to a 1600 scale.
If you were lazy your first two years of high school, why do you think you will change for the last two? Can you handle these AP classes and get top grades in them?
I think, like for everyone, Stanford is a crazy high reach.
I’m not really in tune with Stanford admissions, but I’ll try and give you some general notes (I’m applying this year!)
•Your ACT is really good, you can’t get a 2300 on the SAT anymore, I don’t think (They updated it, didn’t they?). Take the SATII and destroy the physics/M2 test
•I notice you aren’t in football anymore? You’re REALLY lacking on ECs from what I’m seeing, try and get involved in something physics-y (lol) outside of school this year!!
•You don’t appear to have leadership, either, yet (You’re a junior, you can fix that!), so that’s something you can work on!! You don’t NEED an officer position, but it helps. You can always communicate leadership through other means.
•Try and make a good impression on your teachers for those fire recommendations
•That excuse for your GPA isn’t a great one, you should always try, even if it’s “too easy.” If you’re more intelligent than you “appear,” I think that’ll show in your essays/recommendations :D!
Anyway, your scores are ~GREAT~, you just need to add a little more to your application so you can be ~AMAZING~. There’s NEVER a guarantee that you’ll get in, it’s a combination of pure amazingness, luck, and the admission officers subjective analysis of you. Just prepare for the worst, but don’t just expect the worst. There’s ALWAYS a chance, and I personally think if you’re just going to expect the worst, don’t apply.
