I am a female rising high school senior from Maryland, and have recently been reading up on my chances of admission at W&M. I will be attending an on-campus interview later in the week, but have already decided that this is my top choice school. While I know William and Mary is extremely competitive for out of state students (particularly women), I feel I have done all I can to make myself a qualified candidate. I will most likely be applying early admission and looking to study international affairs. That being said, some statistics on myself:
-the President of Latin National Honor Society
-the Secretary of our National Honor Society
-involved in 4 clubs at my school, 2 of which I helped to create
-a captain of our varsity soccer team and run indoor track
-a nationally ranked figure skater
-currently enrolled in the maximum amount of AP classes possible at my school
-averaging 4s on my AP tests, 6 of which I have already taken
-3.85 GPA unweighted and 4.3 weighted on the 4.0 scale
-interning for a republican congressman in my state
-1400 superscore SAT
-31 ACT score
-Governor of ALA Maryland Girls’ State (leadership seminar)
Your ECs are great and class rigor will hopefully help with the lower GPA. To be competitive OOS, the best places to work on are probably keeping your grades up and raising test scores. Remember that while you’re in the middle score range, most of the lower scores were accepted in state.
Thank you! I appreciate the insight.
W&M doesnt have EA, only ED. FYI
Please be careful when applying ED. W&M does not guarantee to meet full need and in fact only meet the full need of 22% of those applying for FA. COA for OOS is $56K. Is this in your budget?

Thankfully yes my parents have been really amazing in helping me save so W&M is within my budget for college. While I am still looking into private scholarships and merit based aid, I more than likely wouldn’t qualify for need based aid.
