What are my chances of getting into the schools I applied too?

“We use scores from each section in our review, but the reports on averages generate totals”
That’s off UVA dean J’s blog.

I never seen that @billcsho @engineering01
My school does it the way I say and surrounding schools. How does that work thats interesting?? My school does 93-100 is an A and 85-92 is a B and so on.

If you have nothing lower than A-, you need to have more than 1/3 classes in A- to get a GPA below 3.9.

If your school calculate GPA in 4.0 scale, they will convert the letter grades into 4.0 scale. It does not matter what percentage score you need to receive a certain letter grade. In my D’s school, 100 is A+ (4.0), 95-99 is A (4.0), 91-94 is A- (3.7), etc. Some schools do not give GPA in 4.0 scale but just in % score. Both are common, but more schools use a 4.0 scale.

My school has grades calculated every semester due to block scheduling, so normal 1 semester receive the normal weight so full year A-'s count as an A- twice.

^ Most schools do, but you still need to have more than 1/3 credit in A- to get GPA below 3.9, and more than 2/3 in A- to get it below 3.8. A few A- should not matter. Anyway, just try your best to keep up the GPA. As mentioned earlier, some schools would drop the subgrades when recalculating GPA.

If it makes any difference, I can also speak another language fluently and I made sure to emphasize that on my application. Is that considered something of value?

As an update, I just got accepted into VCU and Georgia Tech, and was rejected from MIT. I was also offered a partial scholarship from VCU if I attend.
