Hello, this is my first cc post, and I was wondering what my chances are of getting into several upper level private universities. I am a half asian and half white male from Ohio, and I am looking to either take the pre-med route or become an engineer (not sure what kind atm, any engineering field interests me).

The schools I am interested in are Vanderbilt, Case Western, and the University of Chicago.

Stats:

GPA unweighted: Not sure of the exact number since I have never seen my unweighted, but I'm a straight A student with the exception of one A- in AP Lang.

Rank: Again, not sure but my school is quite competitive.

ACT: 32
33 english 33 reading 32 math 31 science

SAT: 1920
610 reading 690 math 620 writing

SAT subject tests: Bio M-790, Chem-750, Math 2-800

APs with scores: Bio-5, Chem-5, Euro-5, U.S.-3, Lang-3

Senior Schedule:
AP Physics C
AP Calc BC
AP Lit
AP Government
Latin 2

Volunteering (I know it's not much):
Library: 30 hours
Food Pantry: 20 hours
Community Center Volunteer (did activities with elementary school kids): 50 hours

Summer Job:
Working at the zoo, mostly at concession stands.

ECs (extremely bad, stopped sports because of injuries):
Varsity swimming: 9th grade
Track: 9th grade
Interact Club: 11th grade
Will try to get into NHS for senior year.

As for teacher recommendations, I don't expect anything great as there are many bright students at my school, and I am not close to any teachers. For essays, I'm not sure, some of the stuff I write is good while some of it is awful.

To finish it off, I know my ECs hurt my chances a lot, but would retaking the ACT help this at all? The last time I took it was in February (that's the 32), but I am confident that I could do better; however, I don't know if it's worth the effort.

If my chances for these schools are slim, are there any other schools like these that you could recommend?

Thanks for reading!
