I'll just post my stats and schools i'm applying to. I would really like to get a second opinion regarding my eligibility at the schools.

GPA: 3.2UW, 3.9W
SAT: 1900
I have taken 7 AP's, and the rest of my classes were mostly honors
Extracurriculars: Debate club, Amnesty international, Latin club(VP), improv club, and I do stand-up outside of school. I(my team, and I) also won my state's "we the people" competition and came in 20th at nationals. I also participated in a tutoring program called "meals on wheels" for underprivileged children all four years. I have about 75 hours of community service, but no employment history.

Oh, I also have ADD... Don't know if that means anything to colleges, but it's worth mentioning.

Schools I'm applying to: UCONN, University of Illinois urbana-champaign, University of Maryland college park, UNC chapel hill(reach), Northeastern, Penn State, Ohio State, and the University of Washington.

All I know is that you are going to have. Difficult time getting Into college park, UNC-chapel hill, and penn. Try finding some safety and match schools!

Oh, I should have mentioned that. I am applying to several safety schools, I just didn’t bother posting them because I’m fairly certain I will be accepted to them.

A higher SAT or even replacement ACT might help you a fair bit. I don’t know many of the schools there, but being from the Northeast, I can say

UCONN: Match
UNC chapel hill(reach): Reach
Northeastern: Low Reach or Match
Penn State: Match

I feel you on the lowish GPAs, mine are slightly similar…see if the scores can go up, or if you can get a rec explaining your struggles with ADD, or even make that an essay topic to put light on it…Good luck!

APP state, and Rutgers. I know Rutgers has come into its own lately, and has developed a quite the reputation as an academic institution, but both of my parents went there so I have some legacy bonus points, and my aunt is on the board of admissions. So I do have a little clout there, and will probably get it.

Thanks for the response! Yea I agree with most of what you said, Northeastern is just really hard to gauge. I would guess it’s more of a reach because of how competitive its become in the past two years, but of friend of mine got in last year with roughly the same gpa and a lower sat score(I plan on taking the SAT again in october, hopefully get above a 2000). Oh, and no problem, I’ll chance you!

They’re definitely lower than average, but most of these schools accept many students with my stats. Even Northeastern, which became incredibly selective in one year, admitted a friend of mine with a 3.85 weighted GPA, a 1860 SAT score, and less than exemplary extracurriculars. And this was last year, which was their most selective year by far. So I wouldn’t consider myself out of the running for any off these schools, especially considering that Northeastern is the second most selective on the list with an acceptance rate hovering above 30%.
