Freshman year I got a 3.8 gpa weighted.
Sophomore year I got a 3.7 gpa weighted.
Right now I’m a junior and I have a 3.7 gpa weighted.
I got a 32 on the ACT and 1360 on the SAT.
And I heard Trinity looks for unweighted GPA.
What your u weighted GPA?
32 act > 1360 sat so send the act.
Have you taken subject tests? AP exams?
What AP classes are you currently taking?
What course (major) are you applying for?
TCD posts all the requirements for admissions from the US- they even have an application guide online for US students. The general requirements are not especially high- but the course specific requirements may be higher.
Go spend some time on the TCD website (and figure out your UW GPA while you are at it). Read about the course you want to take, including what you study and how you are assessed.
Also, there’s getting in and there’s staying in.
I was looking at the website,as my S20 is considering going abroad for school. They said they required a 1290 SAT to apply. I am not sure what that means in terms of if that means it’s a baseline? or if a higher score will definitely get you in? But your scores seem like a match
@NYC2018nyc, the scores and GPA given online are a baseline. Same as in the UK, you apply to a specific course, and the number of places available shapes how competitive you need to be to get a place. You can get a feel for how competitive a course is by looking at the course description page- at the top it will list how many places there are and the usual points (from exams at the end of senior year) required. Over 500 points is high: ~top 10% of scores. US students (in particular, their international fees) do have an edge.
The interesting thing is that the competitiveness of a course directly relates to its popularity vs the # of places- not how ‘easy’ or ‘hard’ it is. Physical therapy requires more points than medicine, b/c it is very popular (you can make a great living - comparable to being a doctor, but a lot better hours) but there are very few places (b/c of the need for a low instructor:student ratio).
Other examples: Law + Business has 25 places and was 577 points last year, vs Philosophy with 20 places and 392. Business, Economics & Social Studies (known as BESS) is a big course- 236 places / 511 points.
I’m planning on doing computer science engineering
What APs are you taking/will you take next year?
I’ve taken AP US History, taking AP Lit and AP Econ, going to take AP statistics, AP Physics, AP Lang, AP Gov
The only AP that will matter in your list is AP physics. You’ll need AP calculus and another AP science (or CS) instead of AP Lang and AP stats.
