I am currently a junior in highschool and have been taking honors classes since my freshmen year and am in AP classes now. Since I was in honors and AP classes throughout Highschool, my GPA has suffered a little…and my ACT isn’t that great. I have a 3.1 GPA and a 26 on the ACT. I have taken the ACT three times and haven’t had the chance to study. I usually perform really well on standardized tests, but I understand my scores are low because I haven’t studied yet! I plan to redeem myself this coming September. I currently have a 30 in English, 29 in Reading, 24 in math, and a 21 in science (this is surpsiring because science has always been my highest score). I would like to major in Chemistry and am planning to apply to U of M (College of Liberal Arts), U of Iowa (College of Liberal Arts), and U of Illinois (College of Liberal Arts)
I have taken:
Freshmen year:
-Honors Biology
-Honors Geometry
-Honors Freshmen English
-Intro to Engineering (this is actually a freshmen college engineering class)
-Spanish 2
-World Geography
Sophomore year:
-AP Euro (I dropped it after first semester because I got a C+)
-Honors Sophomore English
-Honors Algebra 2
-Regular Chemistry
-Spanish 3
-Principles of Engineering
-Health
-Consumers Education

-Spanish 4 (this is a dual credit class)
-Medicial Termonology (dual credit class)
-Honors Trig/Pre-Calc
-Regular Physics
(This summer, I am taking AP Calc A…my math grades have not been great in highschool and I think I will be able to get a good grade in Calc A this summer to show that I am college ready).
Senior Year I plan on taking:
-AP Chem
-Bio2
-AP lit
-AP stats
-AP calc AB
-AP Gov/Macroeconomics
I did lacrosse for two years and tennis for one year. I am the VP of our junior class club (I did not do this club sophomore year and will have done it for 3 years when I graduate) and am also in Student Council (I didn’t do it sophomore year since it interfered with my sports, but I will have done it for three years before high school ends), Prom Committee (VP there), Health Professionals of America, and Students Helping Others (volunteering club). I also volunteer at the local hospital for four hours a week and have been volunteering there since the start of my junior year. I will also be first generation to go to college. I currently live in Illinois. I am a minority student based on ethnicity. Could you tell me if you think I would get in?! I would reallt appreciate it. My counselor practically told me that I wouldn’t be able to get into these schools and I just want the opinion of others…I’m just really nervous and don’t want to disappoint my family and friends.
